Keep a Roof Over Your Head

For proper RV roof maintenance, always inspect your sealant for cracks or thin spots biannually to check for leaks. A small leak on the roof can cause major water damage to your entire unit. Check your trusted RV parts and repair center for products to maintain and repair your roof. Patch any spots or tears with roof patch spray; use roof patches for metal or fiberglass and roof bonding tape for any surface but silicone. You must remove any peeling or flaking roof sealant, scrape off the old coating and re-apply new sealant. Cleaners and brushes specifically designed for your roof will help to keep it free of mold and mildew. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions in your maintenance manual when purchasing RV roof maintenance and repair products from your parts and service center. Note: your RV roof is durable but thin. Always check your shoes for stones or sharp objects to avoid creating more of a problem! Undertaking major RV repair, like roof replacement, can be daunting and may require special tools and equipment. There is a wide variety of roofing materials and construction methods, but this job is best left to experts at your trusted RV repair center. Total roof replacement can be expensive, so talk to your service technician and weigh replacement decisions against your pocket-book.
